$175 for a Burger?!?!

Recently saw a news article for the most expensive burger in the world. You can read the whole article here.

There is a lesson to be learned from this. In a time of economic slowdown (by definition, we are not yet in a recession), a company creates the most expensive burger in the world; something its creators freely label as “the ultimate in decadence.”

This is shocking, it creates buzz. People will buy this simply because they can tell their friends they once ate the most expensive burger in the world. Nobody really cares that it has black truffles or that it has a Kobe beef patty. I personally don’t even know what a Kobe beef patty is. For all I know, it is a slang term for “possum sauteed in its own juices, and then delicately flattened beneath the front tires of the chef’s Mercedes.”

The point is that you do not need to have the cheapest price in town. You simply need to stimulate the curiosity of consumers, and give them something they want to spend their money on.
