And the Winner is . . .

As I said a few weeks ago, I am offering shameless bribes to people for signing up for my newsletter. The first drawing was for those who had already signed up, as a reward for getting on the bandwagon early.
The drawings for cool stuff will be on the 15th and 30th of each month (until [...]

Monday Marketing Tidbit - Inspiration for Content Creation

Do you blog?
Do you publish a newsletter?
Maybe you have wanted to do some article marketing?
If you do any of the things I just listed, then you have to develop original content. In plain English, you have to continually come up with new stuff to write about.
This isn’t always easy. There have been times when I [...]

As a BizWarrior, You Aren’t Alone

Running your own business is difficult. It can be stressful, especially when things aren’t going fantastic. You feel obligated to project this image of great success, because people want to do business with people who are successful.
The reality is much uglier.
Your bills go unpaid, you stay up late at night worrying, wondering if you should [...]

Monday Marketing Tidbit - It’s All ABout Value

People always say that it’s all about price. People only want the lowest price. I can’t compete with the big companies on price. Price, Price, PRICE!
*BEEEP!* Wrong! Thanks for playing.
People don’t want the best price. They want the best VALUE!
It’s about how much bang they get for their buck, not how many bucks.
So, if you [...]

Review: Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 by Nuance

I am an excellent speller. But a lousy typist. I type fast, but my fingers don’t always move in the proper sequence, so I am notorious for typing the word “form” when I meant to type “from.” You’ll also notice that, since “form” is a real word, it doesn’t get caught by spellcheck.
This can be [...]

Hey look! Free Prizes!!!

I’ve decided I want more subscribers for my newsletter.
So, with that in mind, I am going to bribe you, my readers, into subscribing. And I am going to apparently use a lot of commas to do it.
From now until Halloween, I am going to randomly draw a name from my list of subscribers to my [...]

Monday Marketing Tidbit - Appeasing the Search Engine Gods

Last Monday, I did a little marketing tidbit about capitalizing your web address for readability. You can read that post here.
I also did something else, which I hadn’t mentioned. In that post, I had mentioned such things as “marketing a small business” (the example URL I used) and also “business card.” Now, the impact of [...]

How to Market Ice to Eskimos, Water to Fish

Photo by ShaadowFox@DeepLurkS tation with his broken camera
Many people have heard the phrase “he could sell ice to Eskimos.” It is usually used to refer to somebody who is so good at sales that he could actually get an Eskimo to pay for ice, something he already has an abundance of.
If you really want to [...]

Monday Marketing Tidbit - Capitalizing Your URL

This is a pretty busy week, but I wanted to throw out a little tidbit today that has been helpful for me.
Whenever you advertise your web address (i.e. your URL), capitalize the first letter of each word, even though browsing the web is not case sensitive.
In other words, instead of www.marketingasmallbusiness.com,
it should be www.MarketingASmallBusiness.com.
See how [...]

Case Studies In Appreciation

Wow, maybe this stuff actually works, huh?
I know, I hate coming in on a conversation in the middle, especially when it is a conversation someone is having with himself. Let me bring you up to speed . . .
Not long ago on this blog, I raved about a book called “The Go-Giver.” You can read [...]
